Space Suit
History
In
the late 1960’s the Russian Center for Aeronautical and
Space Medicine have invented the Penguin suit to be worn by
Astronauts during their long stay in space to prevent harmful
effects of
zero gravity, absence of anti-gravity force, on the
musculoskeletal system.
Due to the
well known fact that Cerebral Palsy patients face a similar
effect from gravity, disorder of anti-gravity force, and after
many years of research, the Penguin suit was modified to the
Adeli Suit and used for rehabilitation of CP patients and
other Neuromuscular disorders with successful results.
In
the mid 90’s Euromed clinic in Poland have taken a further
step in this new technique and developed an Intensive
Physical Therapy program
utilizing the Adeli Suit.
In
2002 Therasuit LLC Company developed a new suit (TheraSuit)
and started promoting the Intensive therapy in the USA.
In 2003 a new Suit (Bungy
Suit) was developed by
Mr. Anwar Salem Sharmit,
BSME and a father of a CP
child, in which a new system for
the upper limbs has been invented.
The Bungy Suit is being used at HOPE
Center since August 2003.
